Netflix Debuts SCTV Documentary Ahead of Rick Moranis Return and Cast Updates

According to TV Insider's October 29, 2026 retrospective, the documentary arrives during SCTV's 50th anniversary year and traces how the fictitious television network format propelled Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Joe Flaherty, Harold Ramis, Robin Duke, and Tony Rosato. The feature highlights Moranis ending his multi-decade onscreen acting hiatus to reprise Dark Helmet in Spaceballs: The New One, scheduled for release in 2027.

TV Insider also noted that SCTV and Saturday Night Live alumna Robin Duke—who co-founded the Canadian comedy troupe Women Fully Clothed and teaches comedy at Toronto's Humber College—appears in the 2026 SXSW comedy film The Snake, while Eugene Levy continues hosting The Reluctant Traveler and Martin Short stars in Only Murders in the Building.
