Saturday Night Live UK Sketch 'Nigerian Wicked' Sets All-Time YouTube Viewership Record
Saturday Night Live UK set a new all-time YouTube viewership record with 'Nigerian Wicked,' a three-minute pre-taped sketch from guest host Cynthia Erivo's October 24, 2026 episode on Sky that surpassed 7.5 million YouTube views by November 2, 2026.
According to LateNighter, the sketch reimagines the musical Wicked as a low-budget Nollywood movie set in 'LagOz,' with Erivo swapping her stage and film role as Elphaba to play Glinda opposite Saturday Night Live UK cast member Ayoade Bamgboye as the green witch and Hammed Animashaun as a cash-strapped Wizard.
After crossing 1.5 million views within 48 hours of its upload and 4 million views by midweek, 'Nigerian Wicked' overtook 'Harry and Meghan Return Home' (6.2 million views) to become the most-watched long-form clip in Saturday Night Live UK history. Its 7.5 million views also placed it just behind the top-viewed U.S. Saturday Night Live Season 52 sketches on YouTube, 'Republican Midterm Ads' and the 'Dream Academy' parody featuring KATSEYE, each at just over 8 million views.
