NBC College Football Overruns Delay Saturday Night Live for Third Time in Season 52
NBC's prime-time Big Ten Saturday Night college football broadcast delayed the live television start of Saturday Night Live across much of the United States for the third time in four Season 52 episodes on October 31, 2026.
According to LateNighter, the October 31 matchup between Ohio State and USC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET and ran past its scheduled window until 11:08 p.m. ET. While NBC's East Coast owned-and-operated stations and Peacock streamed the Inde Navarrette and Gracie Abrams episode on time at 11:30 p.m. ET, affiliate stations airing full local late newscasts pushed the broadcast back to approximately 11:41 p.m. ET.
LateNighter reported that all three Season 52 broadcast delays stemmed from USC Trojans games serving as NBC's Saturday night lead-in, following a 16-minute overrun from USC-Oregon ahead of the September 26 season premiere with Jalen Brunson and an 11-minute overrun from Washington-USC ahead of the October 3 episode with Dakota Johnson.
