LateNighter Spotlights Bobby Moynihan's Nine-Season Saturday Night Live Legacy and NBC Sitcom Run
Following Bobby Moynihan's October 31, 2026 Halloween return to Studio 8H, LateNighter critic Jon Schneider published a November 3, 2026 feature calling on NBC to book the nine-season Saturday Night Live veteran as a first-time episode host during Season 52.
According to LateNighter, Moynihan—who served in the Saturday Night Live cast from 2008 to 2017 bridging the eras of Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, Andy Samberg, and Will Forte through Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Cecily Strong—currently stars opposite SNL alumnus Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe in the NBC comedy series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.
Schneider noted that Moynihan built one of the deepest recurring character benches in Weekend Update history alongside Drunk Uncle, including secondhand news correspondent Anthony Crispino and Michael Che's rival Riblet, and pointed to Will Forte's hosting debut nearly 12 years after leaving the cast as a model for bringing Moynihan back to deliver his own opening monologue.
